California!

We're in California!

Our flight left Chicago at 8 a.m this morning which meant we had to be at O'Hare by 6 a.m. Thank you to my dad who got up at o-dark thirty to get us to the airport.

We had an uneventful flight to Long Beach, CA where I had a bit of culture shock. Most of the airport was OUTSIDE! The ramp from the plane was uncovered!!!! Mike had to remind me that California does not have weather. It's almost always sunny and warm.

Within the first couple of hours of being here, I got to sit in the sun (without a heavy winter coat!), See the Pacific ocean for the first time (it was a lovely shade of blue, pictures to come when we get back), and have an orange right off the tree.

Oh...and our car! We have a car!!! YAY!

It's a 2007 Toyota Matrix XR. It's bright red and it's really pretty! Mike giggled like a school girl...in front of the garage people who were changing out the license plates for us. How embarrassing!

We're staying with Mike's older brother Harold's family tonight. Tomorrow morning, we drive to Las Vegas to visit with Mike's sister Tanya and her family.

Yay! We have a car! And it's Warm! And I don't have to wear a jacket!
