Date Night Regulars

We're getting old.

No, seriously, we're getting old.

We're "Regulars."

The restaurant we go to normally for date night knows our names, knows where we like to sit, will open a closed section so we can sit there, the waiters all know us, and our orders, the kitchen staff recognize our orders every week, the managers all know us by name, and they've stopped charging our drinks and sometimes give us dessert for free.  They are concerned when we miss a week, and the manager routinely asks us about how the restaurant is doing.

It's sad really.

We're like that old, grey-haired couple that go into a restaurant at 4:00 in the afternoon and everyone knows them.

Except we're not grey-haired (yet) and we're not eating at 4:00.

Like I said, we're getting old.

But I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm going to that restaurant with my best friend.  What I order fits with my diet perfectly, is really well prepared and very yummy.  And the predictability of date night creates an island of calm in the middle of our busy lives.

Yup, we're "regulars" and proud of it!
