The sound of water running is supposed to be relaxing.

xcept when the water is running through your basement.

We had a huge storm here last night. The rain came pounding down, there were flash flood warnings all around the Chicago area.

From the weatherbug website...

"On Monday, severe storms rolled through southeastern Wisconsin, northeastern Illinois and Michigan. There were a total of 119 severe reports received, including 86 reports of hail. Near Princeton, Ill., 1.5 inch diameter hail was reported, cracking windshields along Interstate I-180. Hail ranging from penny to quarter size was also reported."

We saw inch size hail near our house.

Our basement had several streams. We were lucky in that we only had less than an inch covering our entire floor, our neighbor had two inches of standing water last night, someone down the street had four inches. Everyone on our block got wet basements.

Guess what?!?!?!?!?

This also from weatherbug....

"Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms is developing across the across the Central Plains, Upper Midwest and Great Lakes this afternoon and will linger into this evening.
The cause for the second day of severe weather is a steady and strong flow of warm and humid air streaming northward across the central U.S. This return flow is clashing with cooler air sinking south across the northern Plains and western Great Lakes.
These are perfect conditions to produce strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail during the afternoon and evening. Severe thunderstorm Watches are already in effect, with additional watches likely through tonight."

Anyway, here's a picture of our backyard as of 7:30 this morning. Yes, it's a pond...and the water extends into our garage!
