It'll only take a couple of hours...

My goal for last Saturday, was to organize the basement so that I would have the pantry in the permanent spot. That way, I could unpack the rest of the boxes that had our canned food and serving ware pieces in it and not have to worry about moving it all later.

I thought it would only take a couple of hours... silly me.

Six hours later, and we finished cleaning the ENTIRE basement. Because, first, we needed to move the old pile of tools (and workbench) out of the corner where I was going to put my pantry...(sorry, no pic). But before we did that, we had to pick up the construction mess from the area where Mike wanted to put his workshop. But before we did that, we had to move the stuff that we had placed into the basement for storage.

So we moved the stuff, cleaned up the construction mess (our garbage men are going to love us again this week), moved all the tools and the work bench.

Then we had to move the freezers. Yes, freezers...plural. The previous owners left behind an old stand-up freezer, and we had our little chest deep freeze. Both freezers work, but they were plugged into the same outlet as the sump-pump, which isn't a good situation. So we moved those freezers to the spot where the pantry was going to be (makes sense to keep the frozen food in or near the pantry). Then we discovered that in order to fit the shelves in the area, we would have to knock out some old built-ins.

One good thing though, now all the boxes are out of the kitchen and dining room. The only boxes in the entire house left to unpack are the knick-knacks.
