We closed on our home on May 15th, and it hardly seems like it's been almost a month. We've done so much with it! As evidenced by the address, we now own a home on Drury Lane. Whether or not Mike is the Muffin Man remains to be seen... but he does make some pretty good Blueberry muffins out of a box!
Anyhow, here's a picture of the front of our house.
It's officially called a "Baltis Ranch" after the builder who built this type of home. It's a little house, two bedroom, one bath, livingroom, dining room, kitchen and full basement. For the most part, it is in terrific shape.
Here's a picture of the back o
f the house. You can sort see that the garden and yard are in bad shape. We have a (crab?) apple tree in the back yard that Mike had to really butcher. The tree you can see to the right of the house is a thorny locust. We really did some pruning to that on also because it gets these REALLY big thorns on them and we don't want anyone or anything to run into the thorns and get hurt.
The awning is really old and had a Robin's nest in it. We just yesterday removed the nest because the Robin was getting territorial. There were four beautiful blue eggs in the nest. We both mourned the fact that we had essentially killed four robins, but we couldn't handle being dive-bombed by a bird everytime we stepped out our backdoor.
You can also see the air-conditioning unit in this picture. We just paid almost $5,000 to have it and the furnace replaced. The furnace, which hadn't been serviced since 1985, and the air-conditioning both were 30 years old. This was one of the first things that we set up to have done once we closed on the house.
Now here are some interior shots of the house:

As I figure out how to upload the digital pictures from my camera to the computer, I'll add more to this blog. We're currently in the process of tearing out the kitchen to update it (but that's another blog entry).
