Why fix the pipes?

Way back when, we started working on the plumbing. Originally, we weren't going to deal with it for a while; but when Mike cut into the pipes in the kitchen and a black sludge dripped out of the water lines we decided that we needed to fix those. Then, we ended up replacing ALL of the pipes. It's a good thing too.

This is what the water pipe looked like right off the meter. Remember, these are the "clean water" pipes.

By the way, this pipe is a straight pipe. Can you see anything through it? I thought not. In comparison, here's what the new pipes look like.

Much nicer, no? The only pipe in the entire house that wasn't corroded like what you saw above was the shower pipe.

We also have tremendous water pressure now. When we had the original inspection for the house, we turned on the tub in the bathroom, then turned on the tub in the basement, and no longer had any water in the bathroom. Now, the faucets whistle a little because of the pressure! We haven't yet tried the test again with both tubs (because Mike isn't finished with the bathtub piping), but we think that there won't be as much interferance.
