(the use of my parent's computer in the writing of this post is greatly appreciated!)
Yesterday was the "official"move in day. We had been bringing over pick-up truck loads of boxes and stuff in a somewhat organized but sporadic manner prior to this...though ALL the boxes and most of the small pieces had been moved prior to yesterday.
My brother Gordon helped us move furniture out of the apartment. We borrowed my Dad's Suburban and using both the Suburban and the pickup truck, it only took two trips to get all theS furniture out of the apartmen. After the first trip over, my parents and my brother Ryan came to the house to help organize the mess and unpack.
They were a tremendous help and we were able to complete move out of the apartment. We even got most of my kitchen unpacked. (No, the kitchen is not done...we've got plywood for countertops, no sink, no dishwasher, and no stove - more on that later) Mike and I went back to the apartment to finish cleaning and get the last couple of lamps and drawers that wouldn't fit into the cars.
All we have to do tomorrow is drop off our keys and parking passes and we are done with Apartment living for a long, long time!
We got back to the house and collapsed on the couch surrounded by boxes and paper. After staring off into space for an hour or so - there may have been napping involved - we hauled ourselves up off the couch and started rootling around in boxes trying to find some sheets, our pillows and our toothbrushes.
You would have thought that we fell asleep quickly, but we didn't. New house, new sounds, new neighborhood, and feeling very cramped because of the boxes probably kept us from being completely comfortable.
A big THANK YOU to my brothers and my parents for all the help they gave us yesterday as we moved in. Also, a big THANK YOU to my mom for feeding us tonight as well.
